We had the opportunity to share some of our favorite wines at the JBF Greens Seattle X Eight Row dinner last week. What an honor!
Chef David Nichols presented a multi-course dinner combining Washington State fare with Mexican and Central American flavors - paying homage to the people integral to the cultivation and harvest of the orchards of Central Washington.
This dinner was a part of the “JBF Greens: food lovers under 40” series. Geared towards young patrons, this series highlights businesses making meaningful changes in their communities. Check out jamesbeard.org for upcoming events!
A huge thank you to @beardfoundation and @eightrowseattle for including Syncline in this incredible night.
The Slow Wine Guide Book highlights small-scale winemakers with a focus on sustainability, terroir, and stewardship of the land.
We are honored to be included for the 3rd year in a row! This year, we received the Slow Wine Bottle Prize for our state grown Gamay Noir, Grüner Veltliner, and Viognier.
2021 Gamay Noir:
“Grown on a southern slope in the upper block above the winery, grapes are hand picked then fermented and aged in concrete cubes, 65% whole cluster. Beautiful cherry flavors, plum, and hints of cooling herbal notes culminate in a delightful fresh and savory sip.”
2022 Grüner Veltliner:
“The first grapes picked went into a concrete egg for leanness and structure. The second picking went into acacia puncheons. The result is a juxtaposition between energetic freshness and weightiness with beautiful melon and chalky minerality.”
2022 Viognier:
“We agree with James that Viognier from this area has ripe aromatics yet retains acidity. This tongue tingler offers nice peach up front, citrus notes, and marzipan.”
Bud dissection to make final pruning decisions. After the coldest weather in over 25 years we had to appraise how much damage to the dormant buds we suffered. This then helps us decide on how many buds to retain. Bad news is that we did indeed suffer some loss. Good news is that we should be able to adjust our pruning and still get a full crop....
