2017 Gamay Noir
5 Barrels produced
This inaugural vintage from our new 2015 estate vineyard planting is truly inspiring.
Elegance and beguiling aromas of spices, mint and bay leaf are enveloped in enticing flavors of thimbleberry and pie cherry. Bright, fresh acidity shows the nature of this Columbia Gorge site.
Vineyard: Steep Creek Ranch
Appellation: Columbia Gorge
Varietal: 100% Gamay Noir
Steep Creek Ranch is our home vineyard. The Gamay grows in the upper block on the hill above the winery where we tend the vines with great love and care. The vineyard, as well as all of our property is managed with Biodynamic philosophy. As a bottled embodiment of our passion for great wines, this is only the beginning of what we would like to showcase from our future estate plantings.
This fruit was hand harvested off of our estate on September 15th and then fully de-stemmed into small open top fermenters. The fruit was manually punched down twice per day as the native yeast fermented the sugars to alcohol. Pressing occurred at dryness and the free-run wine was barreled into neutral French oak barrels (225L). After 10 months in barrel the wine was racked and bottled in August 2018.
